Whether it’s for work, play, or a little bit of both, the 2022 Ram 1500 has a lot to offer drivers in New England—especially those who are interested in a pickup truck that has what it takes to tow up to 12,750 pounds.

That’s not all. To show you the full extent of this vehicle’s capabilities, we here at Gengras Dodge Chrysler Jeep and Ram have put together this 2022 Ram 1500 towing capacity review.

Ram 1500 Towing Capacity and Engine Specs

Depending on the engine, the maximum towing capacity for the Ram 1500 ranges from 7,730 to 12,750 pounds, when properly equipped.

There are five engines that help make all of this possible.

First, there’s the 3.6L Pentastar® V6 engine with eTorque offering 305 horsepower, 269 lb-ft of torque, and 7,730 pounds of maximum towing capacity when correctly outfitted. This base engine packs a punch for your everyday towing needs or if you need to haul a lightweight camper for a weekend getaway.

If you’re looking for a little extra towing power, consider the optional Supercharged 6.2L V8 HEMI® engine.

While its 650 lb-ft of torque and 702 horsepower make it the preferred engine when you have a need for speed—with a maximum of 118 MPH—it also holds its own in the towing department. The 8,100-pound towing capacity, when properly equipped, will come in handy for your charged-up trailering adventures.

Time to get serious, with the 5.7L HEMI® V8. This engine provides you with 395 horsepower, 410 lb-ft of torque, and 11,610 pounds of towing capacity when properly equipped. You’ll be able to easily tow that heavy gear for your big projects. You can even haul a horse trailer, with a capacity like that.

Up next, we have the optional 3.0L EcoDiesel V6. It can supply you with up to 260 horsepower, 480 lb-ft of torque, and 12,560-pound towing capacity with the right equipment. Forget about horses—this engine’s strength could support the weight of an elephant!

Then, offering the best that the Ram 1500 has to offer in towing, the optional 5.7L HEMI® V8 with eTorque can produce as much as 395 horsepower and 410 lb-ft of torque, providing the aforementioned 12,750 pounds of towing capacity when correctly outfitted.

With numbers like these, you can be sure you’ll be able to find the configuration that’s best suited to haul your gear around town or for your far-off adventures.
