This is why Kelley Blue Book has named these two vehicles the Best Subcompact SUVs for 2021! The Compass earned a 3.5 out of 5 rating from the site. Whereas the Renegade landed a 3.4 out of 5 rating. That model is in the second tier of Best Subcompact SUVs, which is made up of smaller or less expensive entries.

KBB says the Compass is a good size, and has traditional Jeep off-road ability. The site also says it offers more interior space than the similar Mazda CX-3 and Nissan Kicks. KBB also says the Renegade is small and easy to maneuver, and offers a stylish yet rugged design. The site also says it has many standard safety features, and real off-road ability in the Trailhawk version.

The 2021 Renegade is also on a list of the Best Subcompact SUVs for 2021 from U.S. News & World Report. That site scored it a 6.9 out of 10. The U.S. News also says that the Renegade has a balanced ride for handling and an impressive off-road capability. The 2021 Compass starts at $23,915. Under the hood, there’s a 2.4-liter Tigershark engine. It puts out up to 180 horsepower and 172 lb.-ft. of torque, and it can haul up to 2,000 pounds. It’s paired with a 6-speed automatic transmission. This SUV nets up to 22 MPG in the city and 31 MPG on the highway.

The 2021 Renegade starts at $22,850. The available 1.3-liter turbo puts out 177 horsepower and 210 lb.-ft. of torque. There’s also an available 2.4-liter Tigershark MultiAir 2 engine. It delivers up to 180 horsepower and 175 lb.-ft. of torque. This model gets up to 24 MPG in the city and 32 MPG on the highway.

Both SUVs are offered with front-wheel or four-wheel drive. They have an available Selec-Terrain traction management system with auto, snow, sand, mud and rock drive modes. Just turn the dial, and the vehicle adjusts to meet road conditions. The Compass and Renegade Trailhawk trims are also Trail Rated.
